Ok, I don’t know how to start but it just happened to me, today like 6 hours ago. I received a call from a Chinese Man, the number in which is shown on my cell phone was 03-2167 7722.
He first asked whether I am Siti Zahir… Ain, Aini binti Mohd Toher, Toha. Punyelah susah he wants to say my name. Adalah dalam 3 to 4 times, he keeps on trying to make it right which comes to a point yang I dah malas nak layan.
I bila dah camtu, mulalah jadik a bit garang. He still insists to say my name out loud and he said he is calling from MBF Credit Card Center.
The conversation was something like this:
Mr Tan : Awak Siti Zahir… , Siti Zahir… Siti Zahir…. An Binti Mohd Toha
*dia belum abis cakap, aku memanjang dok potong*
Me : Yes. Why?
Mr. Tan : XXXXXX-XX-XXXX (sebut my IC No)
Me : Yes and Can you please speak English? I don’t understand
*waktu ni aku dah tak tahan sangat, seriously cakap entah apa-apa and then, balik-balik nak sebut nama aku yang dok asyik tak betul jer sampai ke sudah*
Mr. Tan : TAK BOLEH.
*Aku dah pelik dah sebab dia langsung tak boleh cakap omputih and you call dari Bank. Bukan selalunya customer service cam pandai jer cakap dwi bahasa gitu?*
Mr. Tan : Kita mula lagi sekali. Saya dari MBF. Pagi tadi awak ada call nak naikkan credit limit.
Me : Huh! Saya tak dek call pun and kad MBF pun saya tak dek.
Mr. Tan : Tapi, dalam record awak ada pakai kat Singapore sebanyak RM9760.
Me : Eh! Itu bukan saya.
*waktu tu aku dah panic dah sebab aku tak dek credit card MBF and dah lah tu, orang tu pakai sampai 10k kan? Isk… takkan aku nak kena bayar kot kan?*
Mr. Tan : Kalau betul awak tak dek credit card MBF bermakna ada berlaku penggunaan kad palsu. Awak duduk di …
*he starts reading me my address then again, belum sempat dia habis baca aku dah potong jer cakap dia*
Me : Then, apa patut saya buat?
*dalam kepala dah pikir macam-macam, bunyi macam panic tapi aku sebenarnya DUMBFOUNDED tak tahu nak buat apa*
Mr. Tan : Tak apa. Nanti you call Bank Negara and buat report.
Aku sebenarnya dari mula, memang rasa semacam jer with the phone call. I don’t know what to do but I just feel like I should take all his information and so…
Me : Saya bercakap dengan siapa ni?
Mr. Tan : Mr. Tan
Me : Apa nombor telefon you?
Mr. Tan : 03-2167 7722.
*Apparently, that is the MBF Fax No as per below*.Ok, ini nombor Bank Negara, 03 -2788 4722 ext 1109. Bahagian Pengurusan Kad Palsu.
Me : Ok
Mr. Tan : Nanti you cakap, ada orang pakai kad kredit you kat Singapore on 2/1/2012.

Aku time tu cam dah tak tahu nak kata apa. Lepas jer letak telefon, terduduk aku kejap. Tapi, entahlah rasa malas jer nak buat apa-apa waktu tu. Rasa cam BLANK. I call my hubby and told him about this.
Since I got the call at the office and I feel that I needed some privacy and so, I headed to one of the meeting rooms. Deep inside, my heart is racing but at the same time I am asking myself, what am I feeling now?
A colleague ask for a meeting pulak and so, aku pun oklah. Meeting jer lah dulu. After the meeting ended, I pulak mengadu kat my colleague about ‘the call’ and she was like, huh! And you are so calm?
Hahaha.. actually that is not calm. That is somewhat my reaction after getting that particular phone call. My mind just go blank. When she asked me what I want to do, then it hits me, ok I want to call MBF first then, Bank Negara.
I pun terus call MBF Credit Card Center because I want them to send my so-called credit card statement to my email. As usual, the customer service will ask lah kan for IC No and all. I pun bagitau lah anddddd budak customer service tu cakap, nope, you are not in the database.
Haaaa.. time tu, aku dah semakin suspicious sangat. So, I pun cam nak call Bank Negara Malaysia. Again, entah kenapa aku memang melambat-lambat kan jer the whole process tu. Aku gi singgah kat another colleague yang need my help on something. Lepas tu baru ler I pergi kat Aida and cerita kat dia. That time jugak I look for BNM nya number in the internet. Memang lain from the number told by Mr. Tan.
I ajak Aida buat further investigation. Hehe. Ala-ala Nancy Drew pulak kan. Firstly, I try to call the Bank Negara Malaysia number given by Mr. Tan.
Machine : Selamat Datang ke Bank Negara. Sila tekan nombor sambungan.
I pun tekan lah 1109 and seorang perempuan menjawab and dia sebut, BANK NEGARA. Tapi, aku ni dalam hati dah memang tahu TIPU kan so, I know that I was a bit rude on the phone and sebab cam tak dengar lah pulak, so we hang up.
Then, I call lah Bank Negara punya number yang I got from the internet and ada this one lady yang jawab. Seriously, I can feel that it’s the REAL BANK NEGARA (Real Bank Negara Malaysia No : 1 300 88 5465), if you know what I mean.
Anyways, the first question popped from my mouth was, Nombor 03-2788 4722 ni nombor Bank Negara kat mana-mana ker? She dengan confident cakap, No. Nombor tipu tuh. Terus lah we all start berbual pasal I dapat the phone call and she also added 10k kat Singapore ker? Apparently, the syndicate is using the same way of scheming people. From 2010 till now, about 8 million dah hilang because of this.
Hence, she advised me and Aida to share this experience to everyone because according to her dah banyak kali BNM buat Press Statement but biasalah kita kan, selagi tak kena tu tak tahu. So, she also suruh kita berhati-hati and I cakaplah, memang susah jugak nak berhati-hati because memang senang sangat nak percaya. Even I pun at one point cam panic giler kan?
She also did mention yang kebanyakannya yang kena adalah Maxis and Digi users. It’s like, ada some people yang tidak bertanggungjawab ni jual our information to these BAD GUYS. Haih! Sedih ok, why lah?
Anyways, you guys please, please be careful. Coz honestly when that happens, we didn’t even realize what was happening. Dengan mudah and automatic we trust jer since he/she already has our details. Make sure you guys do not reveal anything at all, ok?
Also, normally people can only do verification if we were to call them like we call Citibank/Maybank or whatever banks and not the other way round tau! So, tolonglah berhati-hati. I dah terkena hari ni and Alhamdulillah nothing happens.
So, beware yah!!!
I dah pun buat report to the police just in case anything like this were to happen again as in the usage of my personal information.
There you go, something for all of us to be AWARE and ALERT of. It can happen to simply anyone, anyone at all.

Note : Gosh! While I was writing this, the kononnya Pengurusan Kad Palsu called me. Mak ai! They really have the guts man, I tell ya!! Anyways, di sebabkan I tengah dalam keadaan agak marah jadik I terus cakap, I’ll call you back later and terus put down the phone. Damnnn!!! I should have said, oh it’s ok.. I have reported this to the REAL BANK NEGARA… kan????
